Daniel Farias, 45, faces a single count of abusive sexual contact during a trip from Reykjavík, Iceland, to Boston in August, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said.

Investigators said the crew member was using the midship restroom when Farias exited a stall and began to rub his arms. When the man recoiled and asked Farias to stop, the Minnesotan allegedly grabbed the man's genitals over his clothes and made an explicit comment, officials said.

The crew member again pulled away, and Farias asked if the man was upset. When he said he was, Farias apologized and begged him not to tell anyone about what happened, authorities said.

Police arrested him when they reached port. Farias faces up to two years in prison if convicted and a potential $250,000 fine.
